terpstra-209 makes tracked edits answerable to the person who made them
A small attribution fix makes collaborative document editing more credible in the web experience.
Tracked changes made through the web chat currently carry Mike's name, even when a signed-in lawyer, paralegal or colleague made the edit. That blurs the record of who proposed what in a document.
terpstra-209's proposed update instead uses the signed-in person's display name or email when recording an edit. Mike remains the fallback only where no usable identity is available. The result brings the web workflow into line with the Word add-in, where edits already reflect the user's identity.
For teams relying on tracked changes to review, supervise and defend drafting decisions, clearer authorship is more than cosmetic.
