tritium-legal wants Mike to hand over the original file
The proposal would make it easier for legal products to open documents in their own browser-based tools.
tritium-legal proposed widening Mike's document-download capability beyond Word files. Instead of relying on display-ready output, an in-browser editor or document viewer could retrieve the original file for any supported format.
The change would also fold the Word-specific download link into a general-purpose file link, while keeping the old address working through a redirect. That gives existing integrations a gentler transition if the older route is eventually retired.
This was a closed, unmerged proposal, so it is a useful design signal rather than a feature teams can rely on today.
